Referral Information

CAMHS will accept referrals from anyone who knows the child or young person. Parents/Carers and the young person can self refer too. To make or discuss a possible referral please see (contact us).

If you are 12 years and over you need to give permission for your parent/carer/professional to make a referral.

Some of the reasons you maybe referred to CAMHS are:

  • Anxiety
  • Phobic/Panic disorders
  • Self Harming
  • Suicidal Feelings
  • Eating Disorders
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD)
  • ADHD and Concentrations Problems
  • Coping with the Effects of Trauma

Your referrer, and or your GP, would routinely be kept informed of how you are getting on.

It can be helpful when services like CAMHS, social work and education share relevant information about you, and work together. However, we would only contact other agencies with your permission.

The only exception we have to maintaining confidentiality would be if we were concerned about someone’s safety, in this case we would be required to pass on information in order to protect that person.
