Perinatal and Maternity and Neonatal Psychology are part of the wider Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service which includes two Clinical Psychologists, a Senior Perinatal Mental Health Nurse, Specialist Perinatal Occupational Therapist and an Infant Mental Health Clinical Psychologist.
We work closely with colleagues in Maternity, Health Visiting, Family Nursing, the Neonatal Unit, Obstetrics, Primary Care and Mental Health.
We see women/ birthing people who are in the perinatal period (conception to one year of age) who are experiencing psychological difficulties related to pregnancy, birth and in the year post birth.
We offer advice and evidence based psychological interventions to women and can signpost partners to appropriate supports.
We work with women who experience difficulties including perinatal depression, perinatal anxiety including maternal OCD, birth trauma, Hyperemesis Gravidarum, baby loss and emotional distress related to a Neonatal Ward admission.
We offer support to women across Dumfries and Galloway.
We can see women face to face at Mountainhall Treatment Centre, Dumfries, on the Neonatal Unit at DGRI and via Near Me video call. Partners are welcome to attend sessions with the woman’s consent.
Please contact your GP, Health Visitor, Family Nurse, Midwife, Obstetrician, Neonatal Nurse, Mental Health Nurse or Primary Care Mental Health Nurse for referral. We do not currently accept self referral.
