Dumfries & Galloway Health & Social Care

Carers Survey

The Dumfries and Galloway Integration Joint Board (IJB) is a public body which has overall responsibility for planning and delivering health and social care and support in the region.

The IJB and its partner bodies, NHS Dumfries and Galloway and Dumfries and Galloway Council, recognise the vital role that unpaid Carers have in the delivery of care and support, and want to make sure that:

People who deliver care and support, including Carers and volunteers, feel valued, are supported to maintain their wellbeing and enabled to achieve their potential’  (IJB Strategic Commissioning Intention)

The Scottish Government has recently published a new National Carers Strategy (click link) and the IJB are keen to develop a local delivery plan in response.  It is important that the delivery plan is shaped and influenced by the lived experience of Carers.

To help the IJB in its responsibilities, this survey has two aims:

  • to understand the experience of Carers and how well they are supported
  • to inform the development of our local delivery plan for Carers

This survey aims to find out whether the care and support being delivered is having an impact in improving Carers’ experiences.

The survey is just one way you can tell us what you think.  If you’d like to share your views in a different way, please contact the Health and Social Care Partnership’s Strategic Planning team (who are leading this work for the IJB) by emailing dg.spcp@nhs.scot or phoning 01387 272734
